Important Information You Need to Know About Opening A New Account

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires Buttonwood Partners, Inc. to obtain, verify, and record information that verifies the identity of any person(s) authorized to effect transactions in an account.

This Notice answers some questions about Buttonwood Partners, Inc. Customer Identification Program.

What types of information will I need to provide?

When you open an account, we are required to collect information such as the following from you:

  • Your name

  • Date of birth

  • Address

  • Identification number

  • U.S. Citizen: taxpayer identification number (social security number or employer identification number)

  • Non-U.S. Citizen: taxpayer identification number, passport number, and country of issuance, alien identification card number, or government-issued identification showing nationality, residence, and a photograph of you.

You may also need to show us your driver's license or other identifying documents.

A corporation, partnership, trust or other legal entity may need to provide other information, such as its principal place of business, local office, employer identification number, certified articles of incorporation, government-issued business license, a partnership agreement, or a trust agreement.

U.S. Department of the Treasury, Securities and Exchange Commission and FINRA rules already require you to provide most of this information. These rules may also require you to provide additional information, such as your net worth, annual income, occupation, employment information, investment experience and objectives, and risk tolerance.

What happens if I don't provide the information requested or my identity can't be verified?

Buttonwood Partners, Inc. may not be able to open an account or carry out transactions for you. If Buttonwood Partners, Inc. has already opened an account for you, they may have to close it.

Payment, Order Flow, and Contact Information

Payment Information
When making a deposit to your brokerage account held at National Financial, please make your deposit payable to National Financial Services, LLC. (NFS, LLC) and mail it to our office at 701 Deming Way Suite 100, Madison, WI 53717. Please note that we are not allowed to accept cash, money orders. 

If you maintain an account directly with a fund company, please make your deposit payable to that specific fund company and mail it to our office at 701 Deming Way Suite 100, Madison, WI 53717. 

Please note that we are not allowed to accept cash, money orders. Checks made payable to Buttonwood Partners, Inc are not acceptable and will be returned to you which may result in a delay of your investment.

Order Routing
Our clearing firm, NFS, LLC has produced a document that details the trading activity for Buttonwood Partners, Inc. for each quarter. This document is to maintain compliance with SEC Rule 11Ac1-6, which requires broker dealers to disclose any material arrangements with an outside venue or arrangements for payment of order flow and order routing on a quarterly basis.
